‘I’m Marseille for life’ declares ex West Ham star Dimitri Payet as the Frenchman hits out at new transfer rumours.
Payet is one of the best players to have graced West Ham in the modern era and continues to wow football fans at the grand age of 35 with Marseille.
He was making headlines with West Ham against the likes of Manchester United during a mesmeric 18-month spell Hammers fans will never forget.

And he recently revealed he even turned down the Red Devils when he left West Ham to return to Marseille for family reasons back in 2017.
Since his acrimonious departure Payet has actually been linked with an audacious return to West Ham on several occasions.
In the summer of 2018 – around 18 months after returning to France – Payet was linked with a sensational return to West Ham (talkSPORT).
Payet was again linked with a move back to West Ham when David Moyes returned to the club in January 2020 (TeamTalk).
And the French wizard had to publicly address the rumours of a return to West Ham (Foot Mercato).
Now Payet has once again been speaking publicly about his future having been linked with a number of clubs – including Mexican side Tigres.
‘I’m Marseille for life’ was the declaration from ex West Ham star Payet as he hits out at new transfer rumours linking him with a move away.
Payet took to his Instagram stories to deny the speculation, as translated by Hammers News. And one line in particular will interest West Ham fans – that he never found what he has at Marseille with any other club.
“For those who have not understood well or still have doubts, I am a Marseillaise for life,” Payet said on his Instagram stories.
“I will play here as long as I have strength, I will finish my career in this club because I love it and here I feel at home.
“What I feel here I will not find anywhere else. Come on OM.”
Payet’s comments are intriguing given he produced the form of his life during that magical 18-month spell at West Ham.
It was that form on the Premier League stage that got Payet into the France side under an initially reluctant Didier Deschamps for a home Euro 2016 for the playmaker.
Some West Ham fans will see that comment as a touch disrespectful.
But then many would not expect anything else given what went on when Payet forced his way out of the club just months after picking up a £1m “loyalty” bonus.
The new comments from Payet come less than a week after his first West Ham-related social media post since leaving the Hammers over five years ago.
Payet posted a picture of him playing during his West Ham days on his Instagram stories.
