If Hammers boss David Moyes really wants striker target Breel Embolo at West Ham then he must act fast after club makes official bid.

West Ham have been linked with a host of strikers over the last 18 months.

Reports claim Chelsea forward Armando Broja is Moyes’ prime target. But getting the Albanian out of Stamford Bridge is currently no sure thing.

One of the big reasons Moyes has – by his own admission – found it so difficult to bring a new striker to West Ham is because he wants a like-for-like replacement for the all-action Michail Antonio.

And the Scot has said there is a dearth of strikers of Antonio’s type available in the transfer market.

So it is worth remembering that Moyes has also been heavily linked with Swiss international forward Embolo – the one player arguably most similar to Antonio of all those being reported as West Ham targets.

Last summer 90 Min claimed Moyes wanted to bring Embolo to West Ham having been impressed by the Swiss at the Euros.

In January The Sunday People, The Sunday Mirror and HITC stated that West Ham were trying to sign the Borussia Monchengladbach striker.

And just a few months ago the likes of HITC and The Sunday Mirror, claimed Moyes could revisit a move for Embolo this summer.

Well if Moyes really wants striker target Embolo at West Ham then he must act fast after a club made an official bid for him.

Sky Germany is reporting that Monaco have made an offer for Gladbach’s Embolo.

Embolo – like Antonio – is about much more than just goals and assists. His all round game, strength, pace, power and workrate really make him the perfect focal point for a Moyes team.

The alleged West Ham target scored 15 goals and laid on six assists in 45 games for club and country last season.

Sky Germany state that “Monaco have offered a low double-digit million fee for the Swiss international, with the striker open to a move”.

For that kind of figure West Ham could be getting themselves a true bargain and the perfect foil for Antonio.

There would be occasions when the pair might be able to play together too and that would be a nightmare for any opposition defence.

Moyes must decide quickly if he is confident of landing Broja or he faces missing out on potential bargains such as Embolo.
