‘I heard that’ – £8.3 million star responds when reporter says West Ham want to sign him

West Ham United are being strongly linked with making numerous moves in the transfer market in January.

Julen Lopetegui will be targeting a few big signings in the January transfer window, if he is still in charge at West Ham next month of course!

The Hammers are said to be plotting moves for two stunning forwards in the form of Charles De Ketelaere and Evan Ferguson.

However, it could be argued that Lopetegui actually needs to strengthen in pretty much every single department of his squad at the London Stadium.

A new goalkeeper is certainly required at West Ham.

Alphonse Areola has been terribly disappointing, whilst Lukasz Fabianski will be 40 before the end of the season.

There’s one man out there in particular who is said to be a target for West Ham, and now he has responded directly to those rumours.

Noah Atubolu responds when reporter says West Ham want him

Freiburg stopper Noah Atubolu is believed to be a transfer target for West Ham, according to the likes of Fabrizio Romano.

And now the 22-year-old goalkeeper has responded to links with the Hammers.

When speaking to Sky Deutschland, who claim Freiburg would sell him for just £8.3 million, Atubolu broke his silence on the West Ham rumours.

“I heard that, but I’m putting it to one side. We’re having a great season so far. We also have an important game in Leverkusen on Saturday. That’s my focus.”

“Sure, it’s nice and certainly a kind of reward for my performances. But in the end, it doesn’t change my personal value. What’s important is what I show on the pitch.”

Now, some West Ham fans may remember the 22-year-old goalkeeper from our Europa League clashes with Freiburg last season.

He was quite frankly appalling during the four games he played against us, especially during our 5-0 win at the London Stadium in March.

Noah Atubolu lacks any kind of real presence, doesn’t command his penalty area with authority and isn’t the best shot-stopper either.

He’s decent with his feet, but I would be really disappointed if West Ham signed the Freiburg goalkeeper in the January transfer window.
