West Ham United are now confident of completing a deal to sign Nayeg Aguerd in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to a report from The Guardian who claim that Hammers boss David Moyes has identified Aguerd as a key summer transfer target.
We reported right here on Hammers News yesterday how West Ham were closing in on a deal to sign the 26-year-old centre-back.
And now it seems as though the East London outfit are very close to bringing the Moroccan to the London Stadium.
With Angelo Ogbonna having struggled with an ACL injury this season and soon to be 34, the addition of a top-class, left footed central defender is an absolute must in the summer transfer window.
Judging by the latest report, it seems as though Moyes has the ideal long-term Oggy replacement lined up…
West Ham confident of completing deal to sign Aguerd
That’s according to a report from The Guardian who claim that the Morocco international could be London Stadium bound this summer.
And what a superb signing he would be for the Hammers.
The 26-year-old has been described as a brilliant defender by Get Football News France.
And he’s left-footed so is the ideal long-term replacement for Ogbonna.
In 29 Ligue 1 appearances for Rennes so far this season, Aguerd has averaged one interception, one tackle and 4.1 clearances per game. He has also won 3.1 aerial duels per match (Who Scored).
The Morocco international has made 71.7 passes per game on average and recorded an impressive completion rate of 89% (Who Scored).
Aguerd possesses exceptional ball-playing ability as well and this would help increase our resistance to be pressed from the opposition.
He could be available for just £17 million this summer according to GFFN.
And with West Ham close to agreeing a deal to sign Aguerd, we could be in very good shape defensively next season.
