West Ham United head coach Graham Potter has prevented one striker in particular from joining us on deadline day.
However, it’s very good news as far as I’m concerned.
West Ham have signed Evan Ferguson on a season-long loan from Brighton, and the 20-year-old is one man who has been destined to join us for quite some time.
The Hammers have been fairly quiet on the whole in the January transfer window, although there has been some activity on deadline day.
Ferguson has signed as mentioned above, and James Ward-Prowse has returned early from his failed loan spell with Nottingham Forest.

There is still time to get some more business done, of course.
However, as the clock continues to tick down, the attention has firmly turned to our clash with Chelsea tonight.
That said, the recruitment team are obviously still busy working hard in the background.
It seems like the Hammers had a chance to sign another striker on deadline day.
Graham Potter stops West Ham from signing striker on deadline day
The Hammers head coach is clearly running the show at the London Stadium.
And that’s obviously a very good thing.
West Ham have already signed Ferguson, so the window is a success as far as I’m concerned.
Andre Silva is someone who has been heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium over the past month or so.
However, Potter has ensured that that transfer didn’t happen.
BILD journalist Christian Falk claims that it was Potter who stepped in to cancel a deal to bring Silva to the London Stadium.
He has now joined Werder Bremen on loan instead from RB Leipzig.

I’m delighted with that.
It’s not that Silva is a terrible striker – he’s scored 121 career goals after all (Transfermarkt)!
It’s more the fact that he’s 29 now, is incredibly injury prone having missed nearly two years of action since the start of the 2022/23 season, and has only scored one goal this term!
West Ham need to change route when it comes to player recruitment, and Potter deciding not to bring Silva to the club on deadline day is a very good omen as far as I’m concerned.
I want us to target the very best young players going forward, and I firmly believe that Potter is one the same page.
