West Ham United appear to be closing in on the signing of a new striker in the January transfer window.
Graham Potter is clearly very aware that he needs to sign a new striker for West Ham in the January window – he admitted that much himself when he first took the job.
The Hammers are incredibly short in the centre-forward department right now.
Niclas Fullkrug will be out until March at the very best, but more likely April, whilst we won’t see Antonio back in action for West Ham for another 10-12 months, if at all.
Meanwhile, Jarrod Bowen has only just started training again after fracturing his foot against Liverpool in late December.

Potter cannot allow this window to pass without bringing in a proven striker.
Unfortunately for the Hammers though, the forward looking most likely to join us right now is an underwhelming name to say the least.
Striker will join West Ham imminently in the January window
The Hammers appear to be closing in on the signing of a striker.
However, he’s not exactly the kind of exciting addition we’ve all been dreaming of unfortunately.
According to a report from Record out in Portugal (print edition January 25th, page 24), Andre Silva will be saying his goodbyes to his RB Leipzig teammates before joining West Ham on loan this winter.
Leipzig have been pushing the 29-year-old striker towards the Hammers all month long.
That in itself should serve as a big red flag for West Ham as far as I’m concerned.
Potter bringing Silva to the London Stadium would be a seriously underwhelming move.
There are plenty of exciting strikers out there available this month, like Brian Brobbey, Jonathan David and if we wanted to be super ambitious – Jhon Duran.

The signing of Silva would be a total buzzkill for the West Ham fans if you ask me.
Andre Silva would be a bizarre signing for West Ham
The 53-capped Portugal international was a huge talent when he burst onto the scene with Porto a decade ago.
However, Silva has never lived up to his potential.
The RB Leipzig striker has experienced horrible injury problems, and has spent nearly two years on the sidelines since the start of the 2022/23 season.
His recent goalscoring record makes for pretty grim reading as well. He has just five goals to his name over the past 18 months.
I just don’t understand the thinking behind bringing Andre Silva to West Ham in the January transfer window.
Why not just focus our full attention on getting a deal for Brian Brobbey over the line?
I guess the only good thing about signing the Portuguese forward is that it will be a six-month loan deal.
So it’s not like it will be a hugely risky move is it.
Still, Silva moving to the London Stadium would be a sign that the owners still lack any kind of real ambition.
