West Ham United appear to have a free run at signing one striker in particular in the January transfer window.

Graham Potter must ensure that he gets the signing of a striker over the line at West Ham before the January window closes.

Potter has already admitted that he wants to bring a striker to West Ham this winter.

However, that will be easier said than done – the January window is always a notoriously difficult time to secure deals for top players.

It’s a need must situation for the Hammers though. With Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug out with long-term injuries, Potter needs attacking reinforcements as a matter of urgency.

And there is one player out there who should be very easy to sign.

One man has been heavily linked with us all month long.

And it seems like his club are desperate for him to join the Hammers.

According to a report from journalist Philipp Hinze, RB Leipzig are extremely eager for the Hammers to sign Andre Silva before the January window slams shut.

Hammers News exclusively broke the news of our interest in signing the Portuguese forward earlier this month.

And now it is being suggested that the Bundesliga side are open to any type of deal for the 29-year-old.

That’s a massive red flag as far as I’m concerned.

And it tells us all we need to know about the merits of potentially signing Silva.

Leipzig’s desperation for Silva to join West Ham a big concern

My issue here is that there must be a reason why Leipzig are so eager to send Silva our way.

If he has anything to offer, surely they’d want to keep him at the Red Bull Arena.

The 53-capped Portugal international has suffered horrendous problems with injuries over the past few years.

Since the start of the 2022/23 season, he has spent nearly two years on the sidelines with a combination of hamstring and calf problems.

The last thing the Hammers need right now is another injury prone striker. Have we learned nothing from the signing of Niclas Fullkrug?

West Ham have to get the striker signing 100% spot on in the January transfer window.

Someone like Brian Brobbey would do just nicely.
