Good and bad news for West Ham as Newcastle reportedly eye £42 million David Moyes transfer target Moises Caicedo.
The 21-year-old Brighton midfielder is attracting interest from Newcastle United ahead of the January transfer window, according to a report from Sussex Live.
Now, I believe that the Magpies’ alleged interest in the 28-capped Ecuador international is both good and bad news for West Ham.
Firstly, the bad news is that if Eddie Howe tries to bring Caicedo to St James’ Park, that means that David Moyes will find it very hard to bring the Ecuadorian ace to the London Stadium.

The Hammers manager allegedly wants to sign the Brighton star.
At the same time though, Newcastle moving in for the talented central midfielder will be a big boost to West Ham’s hopes of keeping Declan Rice at the London Stadium…
Newcastle reportedly eye Moises Caicedo swoop
Sussex Live reckon that the Brighton star is on the Magpies’ radar this winter.
Missing out on the 21-year-old will obviously be a big blow to West Ham.
Jamie Redknapp recently described the young midfielder as a ‘revelation’ (Sussex World). Meanwhile, 90 Min recently labelled the midfielder as ‘outstanding’, and they’re not wrong! What a player he is.
Caicedo has adapted so well to the robust and intense nature of Premier League football, which is quite remarkable considering the fact that he’s only 21.
He is a powerful and energetic central midfielder and had bagged two goals and two assists in 25 games for Brighton thus far (Transfermarkt).
Caicedo possesses stamina in abundance and has all of the attributes that Moyes needs to add to his central midfield options in January.
In 14 Premier League outings so far this season, the Ecuadorian ace has averaged 3.1 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 0.6 clearances per match. He’s made 53.9 passes per game on average and has recorded a completion rate of 87.3% (Who Scored).
Having taken all of that into account, it seems like the Ecuadorian ace would be the perfect addition to Moyes’s ranks.

Losing out on him to Newcastle won’t be the worst thing in the world though.
At least that will mean that the Magpies won’t be after Declan Rice as well. That’s what football journalist Dean Jones reckons anyway (Give Me Sport).
Caicedo is said to be worth around £42 million (The Daily Mail), although ex-Brighton boss Graham Potter suggested that it will take more than double that to prise him away from the south coast club.
The Toon can easily afford that kind of money though.
And as Newcastle allegedly eye Moises Caicedo, Moyes may not get one of his main transfer targets, but he might just have a better chance of keeping hold of his best and most important player – Declan Rice.
