West Ham United are allegedly close to sealing a deal to sign Emerson Palmieri from Chelsea and it could be completed by tomorrow.

That’s according to Fabrizio Romano who claims that the Hammers have agreed a £13 million plus £2 million in add-ons fee with Chelsea for the 28-year-old.

And a deal to bring the 27-capped Italy international to the London Stadium from Stamford Bridge could be finalised imminently.

Signing someone who can provide competition and cover for Aaron Cresswell will be vitally important for David Moyes this summer.

Emerson would be a decent option for West Ham, but only if Moyes plans to play three centre-backs and two wing-backs. The Italian is not the best defender in the world, so he struggles when playing in a back four as a left-back.

The Chelsea ace was reportedly demanding around £95k-a-week from West Ham.

Jack Rosser confirmed that the Hammers played a blinder, however, and refused to cave into his demands, before talks resumed between the club and the Chelsea star’s agent.

And now it appears as though Emerson could be closing in on a move to East London…

West Ham close to agreeing Emerson transfer

Well-renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the Hammers are on the verge of signing the Italian from Chelsea.

The high-profile journo tweeted:

So it remains to be seen whether West Ham can now agree personal terms with Emerson.

Palmieri currently earns £70k-a-week according to WT Foot. So he is asking for a £25k-a-week pay-rise to join the Hammers, or £1.3 million per year.

He is an attacking left wing-back in every sense. He isn’t the best defensively, but is great going forward.

And as mentioned earlier, we have to say that signing him will only make sense if Moyes plans to play three centre-backs with two wing-backs this season.

£15 million doesn’t sound like bad value for the Italian. He must be a decent player. He wouldn’t have started the Euro final against England if he wasn’t.

And it goes without saying that the Chelsea man is a lot better than Aaron Cresswell.

The Chelsea star possesses exceptional technique and has an absolute wand of a left foot. He won the Champions League in 2021 and that kind of winning mentality and experience could prove to be hugely important for the Hammers.

If West Ham end up signing Emerson Palmieri for £15 million, we think that would be a decent deal for the club.

It remains to be seen whether the Hammers can come to an agreement with the Chelsea ace regarding personal terms, however.
