An ex GSB employee is amazed by what he heard David Moyes did to the owners over West Ham transfer target Arnaut Danjuma.
Moyes is in the middle of a sizeable rebuild at West Ham this summer following a raft of departures.
West Ham have made a good start to the summer transfer window with around £40m spent on new defender Nayef Aguerd and making Alphonse Areola’s move permanent.

But West Ham still need at least one striker, an attacking player, a central midfielder and a left-back.
West Ham have been heavily linked with “hybrid striker” Arnaut Danjuma at Villarreal, as first reported by The Guardian.
A West Ham insider has told Claret and Hugh that the Hammers are not in for Danjuma as Moyes is ‘not convinced’ by the player.
“West Ham are not currently progressing in talks to sign Arnaut Danjuma, with boss David Moyes not convinced by the player,” an insider told Claret and Hugh.

And The Daily Mail also stated that Moyes pulled the plug on a move for Danjuma after deciding he isn’t the best fit for the Hammers.
The West Ham board have allegedly been pushing hard to convince Moyes to sign Danjuma (The Express).
But the stubborn Scot is sticking to his guns and will only sign the players HE wants at the football club.
That is seriously refreshing. But it can also be frustrating at times too when a potentially exciting opportunity to sign a player like Danjuma presents itself.

Now an ex GSB employee amazed by what he heard Moyes did to the owners over West Ham transfer target Danjuma.
Alex McLeish was appointed Birmingham boss by West Ham co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold in 2007 and worked under them and vice-chairman Karren Brady until they sold up and bought the Hammers in 2010.
And he says he is amazed Moyes continues to stand up to Sullivan and Gold over transfers like Danjuma (Football Insider).
“That is unusual in this modern day,” McLeish told Football Insider.

“You don’t tend to hear the manager’s point of view like that. It’s amazing to hear that.
“It sounds like he isn’t convinced (by Danjuma) and you have to back the manager. He will have done analysis with his own eyes.
“He will see for himself what he sees from the player and what is not correct with the deal. It is certainly a breath of fresh air.”

McLeish makes a salient point and what Moyes is doing must be respected and admired – as frustrating as it might be for fan and owners alike at times.
If West Ham fans are honest with themselves, though, the club has benefitted hugely from Moyes’ more considered and strategic recruitment methods in contrast to the scattergun approach under GSB with previous managers.
It may mean West Ham miss out on one or two players along the way. But in the long run the club will be much better off for it.
