Everton look set to sign a ‘hybrid striker’ David Moyes snubbed and Arnaut Danjuma could face West Ham this weekend.
At the weekend Hammers News reported claims that West Ham target Danjuma had flown to London for transfer talks with clubs over a move to the Premier League.
The Hammers, Everton and Danjuma’s former club Bournemouth were all reported to be in for the Dutchman.
West Ham fans who followed the summer window will remember the links to ex Cherries star Danjuma well.
The likes of The Guardian claimed West Ham were pushing hard to sign the Villarreal man.
The reported move quickly became a saga of claim and counter claim – as so often seems to be the way with West Ham.
A host of reports claimed the deal was all but done before a West Ham insider told Claret and Hugh that was not the case because Moyes was ‘not convinced’ by the player.
And The Daily Mail also stated that Moyes pulled the plug on a move for Danjuma after deciding he isn’t the best fit for the Hammers.
This season the attacker, who has been dubbed a ‘hybrid striker’ in Spain as he can play on both wings and up front, has started just six games in La Liga scoring two goals.
West Ham take on Everton in a huge relegation six-pointer on Saturday.
And the east Londoners got a measure of revenge on Everton in the transfer market ahead of the clash.
West Ham have signed Danny Ings as they try to get him registered before Friday’s 12pm deadline so he can be in the squad to face the Toffees, who saw a move for the striker rejected earlier this month.
But now Everton look set to sign the ‘hybrid striker’ Moyes snubbed and Danjuma could face West Ham.
According to transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano, Everton are facing ‘crucial hours’ as they close in on the signing of Danjuma ahead of the West Ham clash.
So much so the Toffees even have a medical booked, presumably in the hope of getting it over the line before the Hammers match.
“Crucial hours for Danjuma’s future,” Romano said on Twitter.
“He will make a decision very soon, Everton are in advanced position and working on clubs side with Villarreal to get it done.
“There are other clubs in the race, up to Danjuma — Everton have medical tests booked as @ElBobble reported.”
Ings has got a great record against Everton.
But West Ham fans will be worried at the prospect of Danjuma coming back to haunt Moyes if Frank Lampard does manage to get the attacker signed in time.
