West Ham United and Chelsea could well battle it out for the signing of Wesley Gassova this summer.
The fact that Chelsea have joined West Ham in the race is obviously bad news for us, but there’s been a further twist that has really thrown the cat amongst the pigeons.
Wesley Gassova first emerged as a Hammers transfer target back in May when it was claimed that we were in pole position to sign him after making a £15.4 million bid.
Julen Lopetegui since went on to sign another Brazilian teenager in the form of Luis Guilherme, but he still needs to add a talented left winger to his ranks.
Tim Steidten embarked on a scouting mission to Brazil earlier this summer, and Wesley was clearly someone who caught his eye.
It’s little wonder as to why, given his incredible natural talent.
However, the pursuit of the Brazilian youngster will be far from straightforward this summer, after Chelsea threw their hat in the ring for his signature.
And now, there has been yet another twist to proceedings…
Double twist as Chelsea and West Ham battle for Wesley Gassova
So all is not quite as it seems in the race to sign the supremely talented teenager this summer.
Quite where he will be playing his football next season is very much up in the air right now.

According to a report from Foot Mercato, Chelsea have made a bid for Hammers target Wesley Gassova.
However, that’s not where the story ends.
Several Ligue 1 clubs have entered the race for the Brazilian teenager, including the likes of Nice.
And what’s more, the Corinthians youngster apparently would be keen to move to France this summer.
So it’s not great news for West Ham or Chelsea really is it!
Football Analyst Ben Mattinson once described Wesley as ‘ridiculously explosive’.
Losing out to Chelsea on the Brazilian’s signature, or Nice for that matter, would be a huge blow for West Ham to stomach.
The 19-year-old has an incredibly explosive change of pace and possesses truly immaculate technical ability.
He is a right-footed left winger, and always tries to cut back inside from the flank and the byline. This is exactly the kind of profile we need at the London Stadium now.
However, Chelsea will obviously be a problem for West Ham in the race to sign Wesley Gassova.
A handful of Ligue 1 clubs will clearly have their say on where the Corinthians winger ends up as well it seems.
