A Mirror journalist has made an exciting claim about the result of Tim Steidten’s recent Brazil trip as West Ham reportedly ready bid.
As West Ham fans know all too well, the team requires a major overhaul this summer.
There are gaping holes in the Hammers squad as things stand.
Six players are out of contract and the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Nayef Aguerd and Maxwel Cornet – to name but three – are expected to be moved on.
So West Ham will require as many as 10 or more new players in the summer transfer window.
Signing a certain number of homegrown players is also a priority for West Ham to meet Premier League quotas.
Big rebuild required at West Ham
The window opens for domestic deals on June 14th. But West Ham have also been busy casting their net across the South American market too.
The Hammers have already been linked with a host of players.
It was revealed by Claret and Hugh just over a week ago that Tim Steidten had flown to Brazil on a mission to scout players.
The report stated he attended four matches while there as he bids to find some transfer gems for West Ham.
Now a Mirror journalist has made an exciting claim about the result of Steidten’s Brazil trip as a bid is readied.

Journalist’s exciting claim about result of Steidten’s Brazil trip
In an exclusive for The Sunday Mirror, James Nursey claims West Ham want to sign 19-year-old Brazilian winger Wesley Gassova and are set to open talks.
Gassova has already played nearly 60 games for Brazilian giants Corinthians – from whom West Ham have signed Carlos Tevez, Javier Mascherano and Fabian Balbuena in the past.
“West Ham are poised to open talks in an attempt to sign exciting Brazilian winger Wesley Gassova The teenager, known as Wesley, is under contract with Corinthians until December 2027 and is an attacking talent capable of playing on either wing.
“Wesley, 19, has played nearly 60 times for Corinthians, who came 13th in the Brazilian top flight last year and have just started their new season.”
South America hit and miss for West Ham
West Ham will certainly need to find a new player for the left with Paqueta expected to leave for Man City if the case against him is concluded favourably.
So a move for Wesley makes sense. He has been dubbed the ‘ultimate showman’. And you can check him out in the obligatory YouTube video below.
The South American market has been hit and miss for the Hammers down the years.
Rob Newman signing Luizao for example has become a forgotten man at the club, only ever playing for the development side despite being a regular for Sao Paulo before joining.
Steidten’s scouting network and judgement has proved on point so far, though.
And the job he did at Bayer Leverkusen is there for all to see.
