West Ham boss David Moyes allegedly would prefer Manchester United ace Jesse Lingard over Said Benrahma.
That’s according to football journalist Dean Jones who told Give Me Sport about Moyes’s desire to bring Jesse to the London Stadium from Manchester United.

Lingard spent a magnificent four-month loan spell with West Ham last season but returned to Old Trafford in the summer after being promised regular first-team action.
That obviously hasn’t happened for Lingard, 29, and he will surely now leave Man United on a free transfer at the end of the season.
It would be no surprise whatsoever to see Moyes try one last time to bring the 32-capped England international to West Ham.
And it is starting to seem obvious that the Scot would have preferred West Ham to sign Jesse on a permanent deal back in January 2021, rather than making Said Benrahma’s loan move permanent.
West Ham boss Moyes prefers Lingard to Benrahma
The Hammers manager brought Benrahma to the London Stadium from Brentford in October 2020 on loan.
He ended up joining on a permanent £25 million deal in January 2021, having spent the previous three months at the London Stadium on a £4 million loan deal (Eurosport).
We think that the 26-year-old is an exceptional talent and has done a decent job for West Ham, albeit not on a consistent enough basis. He’s bagged 10 goals and 13 assists in 71 games for the Hammers (Transfermarkt).
Moyes’s handling of Benrahma certainly hasn’t helped though. The Scot constantly digs him out in press conferences and rarely praises him.
Football journalist Dean Jones reckons there is a very simple explanation for that.
He told Give Me Sport:
“I think he’d prefer to have Lingard than Benrahma, mainly because he’s a better footballer.”
Lingard in, Benrahma out?
It will be interesting to see whether Moyes tries to bring in Lingard in the summer and move Benrahma on.
Benrahma could be sold in the summer transfer window according to club insiders Claret and Hugh.
We think that signing Lingard would be a good move. But not if it means we move Benrahma on in order to facilitate the 29-year-old’s arrival at the London Stadium.
Jesse will be available on a free transfer in the summer so there is no reason why we can’t keep Benrahma AND sign Lingard.
We all know how our owners operate though and it would be no surprise to see them sell Benny in the summer. Let’s hope that’s not the case.
