Your Club's CRUEL Transfer Decision This Month

French outlets Le10Sport and Get French Football News revealed West Ham had returned to Reims with a £20m plus bid for the rapid 19-year-old.

And now the likes of Sky Sports claim West Ham are in serious talks for the hugely exciting striker, who has been dubbed the new Kylian Mbappe and also likened to Thierry Henry.

West Ham have been linked with a plethora of strikers this month and were said to have opened discussions with Reims over Ekitike earlier this month with Newcastle also supposedly interested.

The Magpies reportedly pulled out of the race and West Ham are now said to be trying to get the young talent signed.

Ekitike has been handed some reputation to live up to being compared to French World Cup winner Mbappe.

But he is making a good fist of it in his debut season. Before this weekend the reported West Ham target had scored eight goals, laid on three assists and been man of the match on three occasions in 18 games.

That made Ekitike the top scoring teenager across Europe this season.

And last night the striker Moyes wants at West Ham in the next 36 hours scored again to reinforce his best in Europe statistic.

Ekitike struck his ninth goal in 19 games to give Reims a 1-0 lead over Bastia in the last 16 of the French Cup.

Reims were pegged back, though, and the game went to penalties.

Ekitike coolly stepped up first for Reims to put his away but his side ended up losing 5-3 in the shootout.

West Ham fans are excited by the prospect of signing Ekitike, who has clearly been identified by Moyes and head of recruitment Rob Newman as a young player with the potential to be a Hammers star.

But the forward’s involvement in the latest Reims match may raise question marks.

Of course Reims have every right to use their player how they see fit.

But if they really do face the prospect of selling Ekitike to West Ham for around £25-30m then playing him so close to the deadline could be deemed something of a risk.
