The Hammers completed their third signing for the first team this week with a refreshingly quick and efficient swoop to seal a £12m deal for Swansea’s West Ham-supporting midfielder Flynn Downes.

The arrival took Moyes’s summer spend past the £50m mark after the signings of £30m Nayef Aguerd and £10m Alphonse Areola.

A striker and attacking wide forward are also on the agenda for West Ham as well as another central midfielder and left-back.

As most West Ham fans will be well aware, Moyes plays his cards very close to his chest when it comes to pretty much everything – especially transfers.

He provided a transfer update for West Ham fans on Friday, admitting the pressure is on to get deals done.

Now the Scot has opened up further on West Ham’s drive to make signings in an interview with The Daily Mail.

The West Ham boss is determined to do everything in his power to get every signing right and is well aware Hammers fans won’t accept ‘any Tom, Dick or Harry’.

The Scot also hit out at the constant transfer speculation swirling around the club, something he has noted.

‘There are 58 days left in the transfer window when we meet and over the course of two hours, Moyes nips away to answer and make several phone calls’ The Daily Mail reports.

“Busy? ‘Extremely,’ Moyes told The Daily Mail, explaining he tried to go on holiday to Florida with his wife, Pamela, but only ended up being glued to his mobile phone discussing transfers.

“At Real Sociedad I had a sporting director but the manager ought to be the one making the final decisions on the ins and outs. We’re the ones who get hired and fired.

“We’ve been linked with, what, 80 players? There’s a lot of noise out there.”

The transfer window is very much like Marmite for fans. You either love all the speculation or hate it.

With at least another four signings expected the rumour mill may only just be kicking into gear for West Ham.
