West Ham United boss David Moyes has left the door open to bringing in some new players in the January transfer market.
The Hammers are in real trouble at the moment, having taken just 14 points from our opening 16 Premier League games of the season.
West Ham are currently sitting just outside the relegation zone and with that in mind, it was really surprising to hear David Moyes suggest just last week that he won’t be signing anyone in the January transfer window (talkSPORT).
If the Scot doesn’t bring any new faces to the club this winter, I have no doubts that we will be in relegation trouble.
If nothing changes, nothing changes!
So bearing that in mind, it was pleasing to hear Moyes’s change of heart today…
David Moyes makes January transfer U-turn
The Scot spoke to reporters this afternoon, ahead of our Premier League clash with Brentford tomorrow night.
And Moyes responded when asked whether he still plans not to make any new signings, as quoted by Football.London:
We’ve said we’re probably not going to do much, but that could change.
In an ideal world, West Ham would sign a new striker, centre-back, right-back and winger this winter.
That obviously won’t happen, but I would like to see two new faces arrive at the London Stadium in January.
Moyes cannot afford to allow this transfer window to pass him by without strengthening. Whether the owners are prepared to back him further still remains to be seen of course.
Nonetheless, David Moyes making a transfer U-turn was a pleasant twist.
