David Moyes is allegedly really pushing the West Ham United owners to sign Club Brugge midfielder Hans Vanaken this summer.
That’s according to a report from Het Belang van Limburg (print edition August 27th, page 24) who claim that Moyes is still hugely keen to sign the 30-year-old, in addition to Lucas Paqueta.

Moyes is obviously a big fan of the Belgium international, what with his height, power, leadership and goalscoring ability.

And it seems as though the Scot is incredibly keen to bring him to the London Stadium this summer…
David Moyes pushing West Ham board to sign Vanaken
Het Belang van Limburg (print edition August 27th, page 24) reckon that Moyes is desperate to sign Hans Vanaken this summer.
Club Brugge are believed to want around £17 million for Vanaken, according to 90 Min.
So it remains to be seen whether West Ham’s next bid comes anywhere close to that.
We’ve repeatedly insisted that the Belgian midfielder is far from our first choice. That’s not to say that he isn’t a good player though.
The Belgian bagged 16 goals and seven assists in 45 games in the 2020/21 season and racked up 15 goals and 12 assists in 50 outings last term (Transfermarkt).

Standing at 6ft 5in tall, Vanaken is a real unit and has the kind of physicality needed to succeed in the Premier League.
There is one problem as far as we’re concerned though. The Club Brugge midfielder is 30 now. That obviously doesn’t correlate with the Red Bull Model that David Moyes supposedly wants to implement at the London Stadium.
Moving to the Premier League from the Belgian league and succeeding is a tough ask for anybody. Let alone someone who is 30.
We’re far from convinced that Vanaken would be a useful addition for the Hammers. That said, if David Moyes really wants to bring him to West Ham, then we will back the manager’s decision 100%.
