The Mirror’s Darren Lewis has criticised West Ham United’s decision not to sign Emmanuel Dennis this summer.
Hammer boss David Moyes wanted to bring Dennis to the London Stadium this summer according to The Athletic.

Dennis signed for Nottingham Forest for around £20 million (The Athletic).
Now, Moyes has already signed a striker this summer. He brought Gianluca Scamacca to the London Stadium for around £30 million plus add-ons.

It could be argued that the Scot still needs more attacking reinforcements though. And he has borne the brunt of some criticism for his decision not to bring Dennis to East London…
Moyes receives criticism for failing to sign Emmanuel Dennis for West Ham
The Mirror journalist Darren Lewis was speaking on the talkSPORT GameDay Podcast [19:00, 22 August] and highlighted how a deal for West Ham to sign Dennis would have been fairly straightforward to get done:
“The team don’t look fresh and look a little bit stale when compared to other clubs at the moment. Looking at the top-six, a lot of teams have plenty of fresh faces whilst West Ham still look very stale. I think there will be more signings and a drastic change all over the pitch in their next match against Villa. You look at Nottingham Forest and they have been so decisive in their transfer business and decision making. I felt that West Ham could have easily done a deal for Emmanuel Dennis for Watford striker, who would’ve given them depth in their forward line. At the moment West Ham are far too predictable and this end-of-season wait for signings to become available is costing them points.”

He’s not wrong is he.
We believe that Emmanuel Dennis would have been perfect for West Ham.
He would have provided very solid competition and cover for Michail Antonio and Gianluca Scamacca.
Dennis is exactly the kind of striker David Moyes usually likes.
The Nigerian bagged 10 goals and six assists in 33 Premier League games for Watford last season (Transfermarkt).
He is a constant menace for opposing defenders and possesses a fantastic work-rate. The Nigeria international’s technique has been described as ‘unreal’ by The Express.
West Ham fans will know all about Dennis. He scored against us with a brilliant strike at Vicarage Road last season.
£20 million seems like a reasonable fee for Emmanuel Dennis and Nottingham Forest signing him will surely end up being their gain and West Ham United’s loss.
