West Ham United have allegedly pulled out of the race to sign Emmanuel Dennis from Watford this summer.

That’s according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook who told Give Me Sport that David Moyes is not keen to bring the 24-year-old to the London Stadium due to concerns about his character.

The Hammers boss has already signed Gianluca Scamacca this summer but it could be argued that the Scot needs further attacking reinforcements.

Dennis is someone who has been consistently linked with a move to West Ham since the start of the transfer window.

In fact, The Athletic recently suggested that the Hammers were in talks to sign the Nigeria international. It appears as though the 24-year-old won’t be moving to the London Stadium this summer though…

West Ham boss David Moyes not keen on Emmanuel Dennis

The Hammers will apparently be looking elsewhere for another forward this summer.

Alex Crook told Give Me Sport that Moyes doesn’t want Dennis at the London Stadium anymore:

“Now they’ve got Scamacca, I wonder if they’ve done some background checks on him because, from what I’m told, maybe he’s not necessarily the type of character that David Moyes wants to bring into the dressing room.”

If true, that’s a real shame in my view.

The Athletic reckon that Dennis will cost just £20 million this summer. That’s great value for a player with his quality.

He would provide very solid competition and cover for Michail Antonio and Gianluca Scamacca.

Dennis is exactly the kind of striker David Moyes usually likes.

The Nigerian bagged 10 goals and six assists in 33 Premier League games for Watford last season (Transfermarkt).

He is a constant menace for opposing defenders and possesses a fantastic work-rate. The Nigeria international’s technique has been described as ‘unreal’ by The Express.

West Ham fans will know all about Dennis. He scored against us with a brilliant strike at Vicarage Road earlier this season.

£20 million seems like a reasonable fee for West Ham to pay for Emmanuel Dennis and it’s worth noting that he can play on either wing as well as through the middle.

According to Alex Crook though, Moyes has seen something that he doesn’t like about the Watford forward. So don’t expect him to rock up at the London Stadium anytime soon.
