Daniel Kretinsky shows his true colours by selling best player and West Ham target Adam Hlozek

Hammers co-owner Daniel Kretinsky has shown his true colours by selling Sparta Prague’s best player and West Ham target Adam Hlozek to Bayer Leverkusen.

The jury is very much out on the Czech billionaire after he became West Ham’s second majority stakeholder in November last year.

Hopes were high ahead of the January window given West Ham had so much to play for in the second half of the season.

UEFA MUST STOP! NEW CHAMPIONS LEAGUE COULD RUIN FOOTBALL

But David Moyes was not able to sign a single player he wanted and West Ham’s shallow squad once again cost Moyes potential glory and a Champions League spot.

West Ham need at least six or seven players this summer in a big rebuild.

Indeed Mark Noble fired a parting message to Kretinsky and fellow co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold that West Ham were already three players short before the raft of departures.

Next season the competition for top six promises to be fiercer than ever with the likes of Aston Villa, Newcastle and Man United all set to improve drastically.

Villa have already completed three top drawer permanent signings with the capture of Phileppe Coutinho and reported West Ham targets Boubacar Kamara and Diego Carlos.

West Ham fans are expecting the board to seriously back Moyes this summer to continue their remarkable progress.

And all eyes are on money man Kretinsky – valued at over £3bn in the latest Sunday Times Rich List.

Hammers News suggested previously that Kretinsky may only be at West Ham to make money and see a return on his investment.

We pointed out that just one day after his deal to buy 27 per cent of the Hammers for £150m was confirmed in November, it came to light that the Premier League was in line for a record breaking TV deal – since confirmed – which would see Premier League clubs make an extra £500m each over three seasons until 2025.

That would see Kretinsky effectively double his money.

West Ham fans are waiting to see some real ambition from Kretinsky and co – particularly with rivals Tottenham also making £150m available to Antonio Conte for transfers.

But there are worrying signs from Czech Sphinx’s other club – Sparta Prague.

Indeed Kretinsky may have shown his true colours by selling their best player and West Ham target Adam Hlozek to Bayer Leverkusen.

According to SPORT1 and Be Soccer, the German club have overtaken other clubs and have signed the player for a fee of around 22 million euros (£18.5m).

Just last week Kretinsky did an interview where he committed his future to Sparta Prague and bemoaned the fact the club only managed to secure Europa Conference League qualification (KUMB).

Yet a few days later his club appears to have sanctioned the sale of their best player in Hlozek. West Ham had been heavily linked with the striker before and since Kretinsky’s arrival.

But Moyes reportedly turned down the chance to sign him (teamtalk).

The jury is seriously out on Kretinsky this summer. We will find out whether he is at West Ham to make money or spend it to help the club grow.
