Moyes must sign a new goalkeeper this summer and has been linked with trio
David Moyes has proved shrewd in the transfer market since his return to West Ham. The signings of little known Czech Republic internationals Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal have been two of the success stories of the Premier League.
West Ham had been consistently linked with a move for Soucek and Coufal’s fellow Czech and former Slavia Prague teammate Ondrej Kolar (The Athletic).
The Hammers have also been linked with a £10million move for West Brom’s Sam Johnstone (talkSPORT) and Barcelona’s Neto (Calcio Mercato).
But Moyes might be tempted to save some money given he needs whatever funds he is given to try and sign at least one striker, Jesse Lingard, a central midfielder and possibly a left-back and centre-back too.
But Hammers could save money by completing Czech hat-trick with the country’s number one, Vaclik, on a free
So Moyes could make it a Czech hat-trick by moving for the country’s number one goalkeeper Tomas Vaclik.
That’s after the 32-year-old announced he is leaving Sevilla on a free transfer.
Vaclik was Sevilla’s number one for two seasons but lost his place to Yassine Bounou after suffering an injury.
Moyes will undoubtedly be aware of Vaclik and his situation via Soucek and Coufal.
Vaclik is very experienced in European competition having won the Europa League with Sevilla.
And he was named Czech footballer of the year in 2018 – the award won by West Ham star Soucek this year.
Moyes will be well aware of Europa League winner Vaclik as 32-year-old announces Sevilla departure
Vaclik was actually offered a new contract by Sevilla. But he declined it as he believes he can secure a starting role elsewhere.
Whether that will be at West Ham remains to be seen. But the Hammers could do a lot worse. Especially if money is tight.
Vaclik also famously broke the monotony of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo dominating the La Liga player of the month awards back in 2018 when he scooped the prize.
The goalkeeper confirmed he will be a free agent next month when thanking Sevilla fans for their support during his time at the club.
And he will now join up with Soucek and Coufal in the Czech squad ahead of Euro 2020 this summer where West Ham fans and Moyes will get a good look at him as he faces England and Scotland.
