Crysencio Summerville twist as Daniel Kretinsky shows West Ham his power

There has been a shocking twist regarding the future of Crysencio Summerville as Daniel Kretinsky shows his power at West Ham.

After it was announced Daniel Kretinsky was buying an additional 16 per cent of West Ham to become majority owner, the Czech billionaire confirmed the club no longer needed to sell players for financial reasons as a result.

There would be exceptions of course, such as the astronomical £85m up front fee paid by Spurs for the brilliant but inconsistent Mateus Fernandes.

With a raft of interest, heightened by his World Cup exploits, Crysencio Summerville is also expected to be sold – especially as the Dutchman has a £50m relegation release clause, as exclusively revealed by Hammers News.

Summerville future twist as Kretinsky shows West Ham his power

A host of clubs have been linked with Summerville, from PSG to Man United and Roma.

Alongside Jarrod Bowen and Tomas Soucek – few did more than Summerville to try and keep the Hammers in the Premier League last season.

The captain STAYS! How big of a coup is this for West Ham? 🥳

West Ham United's English striker #20 Jarrod Bowen celebrates after scoring the opening goal during the English Premier League football match between Chelsea and West Ham United at Stamford Bridge in London on January 31, 2026.

At one stage the 24-year-old was single-handedly keeping West Ham’s survival hopes alive.

Captain Bowen has followed Soucek in officially and publicly committing his future to the Hammers despite relegation.

Now there could be a shock Summerville twist as Kretinsky shows West Ham his power.

According to sources speaking to The Evening Standard, Kretinsky is actually looking to ward off interested clubs in a bid to now KEEP Summerville at West Ham.

Standard reporter Sam Tabuteau made the claim when reporting on Bowen’s confirmation he is staying after talks he held with Kretinsky in Prague in the wake of relegation.

Now West Ham want to keep Summerville

Hammers News revealed earlier this summer that West Ham wanted to retain a core group of key players including Bowen, Soucek, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Taty Castellanos.

Having that clutch of players in the Championship would make the Hammers irrefutably hot favourites for the title.

If you were Nils Koppen, who are YOU signing to replace Summerville?

Abdul Fatawu, Simon Adingra and Sorba Thomas have been linked…

Never in their wildest dreams did supporters imagine they might keep Summerville too.

That could explain why the Hammers have not been in a rush to sign Abdul Fatawu.

It would be a serious power play from Kretinsky, who declared the club’s top players have told him they will stay if he is true to his word over West Ham’s ambitions.

The prospect of West Ham fielding a front three of Summerville, Bowen and Taty in the second tier is mouth-watering – especially with midfield machine and regular goalscorer Soucek behind them.

Of course it may be some brinkmanship from West Ham in feeding that information to the Standard as they play hard ball with Summerville’s suitors – many of whom seem to be trying to negotiate a deal below his release clause.

Keeping Summerville would be arguably as big a statement as keeping Bowen and Soucek given his age and profile off the back of his impressive World Cup.

It seems too good to be true right now and maybe it will prove to be just that.

But there is certainly no shortage of good news coming out of the London Stadium right now.

Is it any wonder more than 50,000 season ticket holders – and counting – have signed up to follow the club in the Championship.

Long may the positive Hammers vibes continue.
