Chelsea securing £63 million Frenkie de Jong mega-deal would be brilliant news for West Ham

Chelsea signing Frenkie de Jong this summer would be fantastic news for West Ham and our hopes of keeping hold of Declan Rice.

According to a report from The Express, Chelsea are are willing to pay Barcelona’s £63 million asking price for De Jong.

And should the Blues beat Manchester United to the Dutchman’s signature in the summer transfer window, it will be great news for West Ham, David Moyes and the club’s fans.

The Dutchman arriving at Stamford Bridge would surely end Chelsea’s pursuit of Hammers star Declan Rice, for the time being at least.

Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is allegedly keen to sign the 23-year-old West Ham midfielder according to the likes of The Mirror.

West Ham have stood firm so far though and are insistent that Rice will not be sold for anything less than £150 million (The Daily Mail).

And it seems as though Chelsea may finally be moving on…

Chelsea eyeing up Frenkie de Jong swoop

The Barcelona ace could be Chelsea bound this summer according to The Express. Sport Bible describe him as elite and a masterclass midfielder. Meanwhile, Football Transfers label the 25-year-old as ‘world-class’. So it’s little wonder why the Blues might want to sign the Dutch ace.

If the Dutchman does move to Stamford Bridge, a return to West London for Rice may well be off the cards. Happy days!

He began his youth career with the west London club before leaving to join the Hammers’ academy aged 14.

Rice is a boyhood Chelsea fan, so if he were to leave the London Stadium, a return to the west side of London would be a likely outcome.

The West Ham fans are always wary that Dec could one day return to his boyhood club. It appears as though Chelsea are prioritising a move to sign De Jong this summer, however.

West Ham keeping Rice will be absolutely vital to our hopes of making any kind of progress over the next few years. Chelsea’s persistent tracking of the 23-year-old has always had an ominous feeling about it, however.

It does seem like the 23-year-old moving back to the Blues is a transfer just waiting to happen at times.

But with Chelsea now being linked with a move to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong this summer, the Hammers may well be able to keep hold of Dec for the foreseeable future.

And that’s obviously great news for West Ham United.
