Bournemouth have agreed a £24.5m deal for a Lorient forward wanted by West Ham after a new Dango Ouattara claim.

The battle to beat the drop in the Premier League this season may well be settled by the business done in the January transfer window.

There is no much between the bottom seven or eight teams in that dogfight, with West Ham and Bournemouth right in the thick of it.

Over the last week West Ham have been heavily linked with a host of players included talented Lorient attacker Dango Ouattara.

French publication Media Foot have claimed the Hammers face competition from Everton for the €10 million (£8.8 million) rated attacker.

West Ham have also been linked with Ouattara’s Lorient teammate Terem Moffi.

But it seems the Hammers have been beaten to the punch by a late bid from elsewhere for one of them.

Because Bournemouth have agreed a £24.5m deal for the Lorient forward wanted by West Ham after a new Ouattara claim this afternoon.

According to Santi Aouna of Foot Mercato, an agreement has been reached between Bournemouth and FC Lorient for 20-year-old forward Ouattara.

The deal is said to be worth £24.5m including add-ons.

“The deal is soon set to be finalised with only the finer details between parties needing to be settled on,” says Aouna.

“The player will travel to the UK today to complete a medical and finalise the move.”

Get French Football News claims the acquisition of a 33% minority stake into Lorient by Bournemouth owner Bill Foley has progressed the deal in the Cherries’ favour.

This is a big blow for West Ham even if it is something of a carve-up with the dual interests of Foley in Bournemouth and Lorient.

Let’s hope that is not going to be the case with Moffi too because West Ham simply must add goals to the team this month.

Failure to do that – coupled with their direct relegation rivals such as Bournemouth making signings – could be disastrous for the Hammers.
