Newcastle are set to be a big problem for West Ham yet again, this time in the race to sign Hoffenheim left-back David Raum.

German publication Kicker claims that Newcastle want to sign the 24-year-old Hammers target for around £30 million this summer.

West Ham boss David Moyes is allegedly very keen to bring Raum to the London Stadium before the start of the new season.

Beating off competition from Newcastle for the German may well prove to be problematic for the Hammers this summer though.

Signing a top-class left-back will be a key priority for both Moyes and Eddie Howe in the summer transfer window.

Unfortunately for the Hammers, the Magpies have far greater spending power and that could be a huge problem for us this summer…

West Ham face Newcastle competition for David Raum

Kicker claims that the Magpies are ready to swoop in for the 24-year-old Hoffenheim left-back this summer.

And if they beat the Hammers to the signing fo Raum, it will be a truly massive blow for us.

What a stunning signing David Raum would be for whichever club wins the race for his signature.

The nine-capped Germany international has everything needed to succeed in the Premier League.

He’s powerful, has bags of pace and is a real gritty, tenacious competitor. Football Talent Scout describe Raum as a ‘superb’ left-back. Meanwhile, the Bundesliga’s official website have labelled Raum as an ‘outstanding’ full-back.

Sport 1 reckon that West Ham or Newcastle could sign the 24-year-old left-back for around £30 million in the summer transfer window.

That’s very good value in our book.

Raum was in absolutely exceptional form for Hoffenheim last season.

He bagged three goals and 13 assists in 32 Bundesliga games (Transfermarkt). Not bad for a left-back eh!

The German is powerfully built and possesses impressive pace.

At 24, Raum is not even in the prime of his career. And he seems at the ideal stage to make the jump up from the Bundesliga to the Premier League.

Newcastle challenging West Ham for the signing of David Raum will be a big inconvenience for David Moyes.

Let’s just hope that the lure of London living and European football is enough to tempt Raum into a move to the Hammers rather than the Magpies.
