West Ham’s blessing in disguise as Newcastle allegedly want ‘world-class’ £170k-a-week ace Isco

Newcastle United look set to blow West Ham United out the water in the race to sign Isco on a free transfer this summer.

That’s according to a report from AS (print edition July 15, page 14) who claim that Newcastle are ready to offer the Spanish free agent big money this summer.

West Ham manager David Moyes is apparently keen to bring Isco to the London Stadium in the summer transfer window.

It appears as though Newcastle are in pole position to sign the 30-year-old.

That’s not necessarily bad news for the Hammers though. Moyes has far more pressing priorities than signing an attacking midfielder this summer.

This will be one that we’ll be more than happy to miss out to Newcastle on…

Newcastle ready to splash cash on Isco wages

AS (print edition July 15, page 14) reckon that the Magpies are ready to offer Isco more money than all other clubs chasing his signature.

That’s fine…Newcastle can have him.

Isco has been labelled as ‘world-class’ by Give Me Sport.

And that may well have been the case…a few years back.

The 30-year-old Spaniard just hasn’t played that much recently and is very injury prone.

Isco has played just 3592 minutes over 89 La Liga games for Real Madrid over the past four seasons – that’s an average of just 40 minutes per match (Transfermarkt).

The 38-capped Spain international has suffered with muscle injuries, ankle problems and back trouble over the past few years (Transfermarkt).

We believe that a move to the Premier League for Isco as his age, and considering his recent injury issues, could prove to be problematic for the attacking midfielder.

Newcastle may well believe that the Spaniard could be a game-changing signing for them.

We believe that missing out on Isco to Newcastle could be a blessing in disguise for West Ham, however. The free agent earned £170k-a-week at Real Madrid according to Football Transfers.

That’s just too much money for the Hammers to waste on someone who is, let’s face it, no more than a luxury player.

The Spaniard just doesn’t possess the physical attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League in my opinion.
