Big blow for West Ham as a report has claimed that West Ham target Jakub Kiwior is close to agreeing a move to join AC Milan.

Foot Mercato claims that Kiwior, who rejected the Hammers in the summer, will soon be heading to AC Milan in an €18 million (£15.7 million) deal.

West Ham apparently had a £10 million bid for the 22-year-old rejected during the latter stages of the summer transfer window.

David Moyes wanted to bring Kiwior to the London Stadium with Craig Dawson set to join either Wolves or Aston Villa (Daily Mail).

The 32-year-old ended up staying at West Ham though and as a result, Moyes didn’t push harder for Kiwior.

The Scot may well end up regretting that now, with AC Milan thought to be closing in on the Pole…

Blow for West Ham as Kiwior seems to bet Serie A bound

Foot Mercato claims that AC Milan have all but agreed a £15.7 million deal to prise the 22-year-old defender away from Spezia in January.

We think that West Ham will regret not signing Kiwior. He is a left-footed centre-back but can operate as a defensive midfielder as well, and that versatility would obviously have appealed to Moyes.

In 22 Serie A appearances last season, Kiwior averaged 2.3 tackles, 1.8 interceptions and 2.2 clearances per game (Who Scored).

The Polish ace stands at 6ft 2in tall and is very energetic and mobile.

The Spezia defender is a proper athlete but it must be said that he is totally unproven in the Premier League. Players a lot better than Kiwior have arrived in the Premier League and failed to succeed.

However, Kiwior does seem to have all the attributes needed to succeed in England. So it’s a real shame that he appears to be heading out to Italy.

Missing out on the Spezia ace should be seen as a big blow for West Ham.

Especially for the fee quoted by Foot Mercato.

Hopefully Moyes manages to identify someone with similar attributes to the young Polish central defender in January.
