West Ham could be set to miss out on the signing of Leeds star Kalvin Phillips to Aston Villa in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to a report from The Times who claim that Aston Villa are now the front-runners to sign the 26-year-old Leeds midfielder in a £60 million deal in the summer.
West Ham manager David Moyes is desperate to bring the England international to the London Stadium at the end of the season according to The Sun.
Leeds boss Jesse Marsch will obviously want to keep Phillips at Elland Road but he may well be powerless to do so.
The defensive midfielder would be an outstanding addition for West Ham but with Steven Gerrard keen to bring him to Villa Park, Moyes may well have his work cut out this summer.

The Leeds ace will be one of the most highly sought after players when the transfer window opens.
And Aston Villa are the club looking most likely to sign the Englishman according to a report from The Times.
Missing out on the 26-year-old would be a big blow for West Ham. He is the kind of player who would take us to another level as a team and signing him for £60 million would be a massive statement from the Hammers.
Phillips has played only 12 Premier League games this season after suffering some bad luck with injuries.
During those outings, the 26-year-old has averaged 2.3 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, one clearance, 1.6 dribbles and 0.5 blocks per match (Who Scored).
Phillips has made 52.5 passes on average per game and has recorded an impressive completion rate of 82.9% (Who Scored).
The Leeds ace has proven himself at the very highest level and was a standout performer for the England national team during the Euros last summer.
Phillips coming to West Ham would see him reunite with his England teammate Declan Rice. Keeping Dec and adding the Leeds star would be a real statement of intent from the Hammers board this summer.
It seems as though we face disappointment though with Aston Villa allegedly in prime position to sign Phillips. And losing out in the race for the 26-year-old’s signature to the Villans would be a real setback for West Ham United.
