Newcastle are reportedly trying to bring long-term West Ham target Raphinha back to the Premier League from Barcelona.

According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, Newcastle have their eye set on Raphinha – a player West Ham have tried to sign on more than one occasion.

West Ham boss David Moyes wanted to bring the 26-year-old to the London Stadium in January 2022 and the following summer.

However, he left Leeds to join Barcelona in the end for around €60 million (£52 million) Forbes.

Big Raphinha claim made and potential Newcastle spending spree will leave West Ham fans feeling envious

Mundo Deportivo reckon that the Toon are eyeing up a summer transfer window move to sign the 26-year-old former Leeds man.

What a signing Raphinha would be for Newcastle. It’s just such a shame that the Hammers didn’t try harder to sign him in January 2022 – we really don’t have any chance now.

How things have changed! Newcastle signing Raphinha would be a sign that they have far more ambition than West Ham as a club, and have the money to back it up.

The South American is a superb player and has been described as ‘unreal’ by Talk Barca. He bagged 10 goals and 12 assists in 50 games for Barcelona last season (Transfermarkt).

Newcastle signing players like the Barcelona ace will highlight the massive gap between them and us at the moment.

Raphinha would be the kind of player who would take West Ham to another level right now. However, there is zero chance of that happening with the Toon trying to sign him.

I just wish that David Moyes had made a stronger push for him two years ago.
