West Ham face a real battle if we are to sign David Raum this summer with Liverpool in the race for the Hoffenheim left-back.
BILD claim that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and Hammers manager David Moyes want to prise the 24-year-old away from the Bundesliga outfit in the summer.
We covered the report from BILD right here on Hammers News last week and outlined how much of a good signing Raum would be for West Ham.
But the interest from Liverpool in the German ace will undoubtedly cause us a huge problem.
The Reds are flying on all fronts this season and will be a hugely attractive prospect for any potential new signings in the summer.
The Hammers have enjoyed a thoroughly good season as well, but we are nowhere near Liverpool’s level at the moment. And that could mean that we miss out on a really good player this summer…
West Ham face Liverpool competition for David Raum
The Hammers will have our work-cut with Klopp eyeing up a summer swoop for the German.
BILD reckon that the Liverpool boss is very keen to bring his countryman to Merseyside before the start of next season.
And missing out on Raum’s signature would be a massive blow for West Ham.
It is alleged that the Bundesliga side will demand around €30 million (£25 million) for the 24-year-old Germany international (Sport BILD).
Whilst Aaron Cresswell has been in decent form for West Ham this season, we truly believe that the Hoffenheim defender would be a huge upgrade on the 32-year-old.
He would also provide really strong competition for Liverpool ace Andy Robertson at Anfield.
Raum has been in absolutely sensational form for Hoffenheim so far this season.
He has three goals and 13 assists to his name in 32 Bundesliga games (Transfermarkt). Not bad for a left-back eh!
The German is powerfully built and possesses impressive pace.
At 24, Raum is not even in the prime of his career. And he seems at the ideal stage to make the jump up from the Bundesliga to the Premier League.
£25 million for the Hoffenheim ace seems like very good value to us. The 24-year-old embodies everything that being a modern-day full-back is all about.
With West Ham facing competition from Liverpool for David Raum though, we think it’s a lot more likely that he will end up at Anfield rather than the London Stadium in the summer transfer window unfortunately.
