West Ham United could be set to hijack the reported Everton move to sign Udinese centre-back Rodrigo Becao in the January transfer window.
That’s according to a report from Tutto Udinese who claim that West Ham and Everton are battling it out for the 26-year-old defender’s signature this winter.
It is suggested that Udinese will consider offers of around €20 million (£17 million) from West Ham and Everton for Becao (Tutto Udinese).
Both David Moyes and Frank Lampard will be keen to bolster their central defensive ranks at the London Stadium and Goodison Park respectively in the January transfer window.
Both the Hammers and the Toffees have ageing backlines.
And the two Premier League clubs could be set to go head-to-head for for the Udinese star in January…
West Ham to challenge Everton for Becao in the January transfer window
Tutto Udinese claim that the Hammers could hijack the Toffees’ move to sign the Udinese ace.
The Brazilian is a very good defender and is hard as nails. I think he’d actually be perfectly suited to Premier League football.
Standing at 6ft 3in tall, Becao is incredibly strong in the air and is a tenacious tackler.
His aggressive playing style is quintessentially South American.
In nine Serie A outings for Udinese so far this season, Becao has averaged three tackles and 1.6 interceptions per match. He’s also won an average of 2.1 aerial duels per game (Who Scored).
The Brazilian has made 41.1 passes on average per match and has recorded a completion rate of 79.5% (Who Scored).
Becao really is a very solid all-round defender, but he isn’t the best with the ball at his feet.
The 26-year-old can obviously work on that and improve though.
And I think if West Ham manage to beat Everton to the £17 million signing of Becao in the January transfer window, it will be a very good deal for the club.
