West Ham United have seen off competition from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal to sign West Bromwich Albion star Matheus Pereira.
That’s the exciting – but as yet unverified – claim emerging from a Saudi Twitter account with nearly 12,000 followers overnight.
West Ham have been heavily linked with a move for West Brom playmaker Pereira this summer as it becomes increasingly clear a move for Jesse Lingard looks unlikely.

West Ham heavily linked with Lingard alternative Pereira
Hammers fans are excited at the prospect of signing the Brazilian, who is three years younger than Lingard and contributed 17 goals and assists for the Baggies last season despite playing in a relegated side.
But the likes of Aston Villa, Leicester and Saudi side Al Hilal have also been credited with an interest (The 72).

West Ham have beaten Al Hilal to signing of £22m Brazilian claims Arabic account
And overnight an Arabic account claimed Al Hilal have missed out on Pereira to West Ham with the east Londoners striking a £22m deal.
The post headlined ‘urgent and official’ states: “Private sources confirm that the Brazilian player Matthews Pereira has reached an agreement with the English club West Ham, after several negotiations that took place during the past two days with his former club, West Bromwich Albion, which ended with the purchase of the player’s contract in a deal estimated at 22 million pounds.”

It remains to be seen whether the claim is credible.
But that has not stopped West Ham fans getting excited with many commenting on the post and retweeting.
Time will tell but there is a growing feeling that something is finally brewing on the transfer front for the Hammers. And about time too.
