There is some confusion regarding the transfer of Rennes centre-back Nayef Aguerd to West Ham United.
The 26-year-old defender is closing in on a move to the London Stadium and has been for quite some time now.
In other news…Report: David Sullivan prepared to pay ‘extraordinary’ forward £50k-a-wk to join West Ham
Central defence is obviously an area where Hammers boss David Moyes wanted to strengthen before the start of next season.
And it seems as though he’s well on his way to doing just that.
It seems as though the Morocco international will definitely join the Hammers but there is one thing that seems totally unclear at the moment…
Aguerd confusion as fee reports emerge
There have been conflicting reports regarding how much West Ham are actually paying to sign the 26-year-old defender.
And now, there have been fresh claims from both The Daily Mail and The Guardian claiming that West Ham have actually raised their offer to £25 million in order to push the deal to sign Aguerd through.
That seems like a huge jump doesn’t it!
In my view, either the figures being reported now are incorrect and perhaps exaggerated or the fees that were being reported first were well wide of the mark.
Either way, getting the signing of the 26-year-old Rennes ace done and dusted as soon as possible will be vitally important for West Ham.
There may be confusion surrounding the Aguerd deal as far as transfer fees are concerned. Let’s just hope that there aren’t any nasty surprises awaiting us!
The Moroccan is a truly elite defender and he will improve Moyes’s central defensive options immeasurably.
