After Goncalo Borges West Ham want another Portuguese star in January as a report makes an intriguing Nelson Semedo claim.
Tim Steidten was brought to West Ham to help drastically improve the club’s recruitment.
And after his first transfer window with the Hammers it is fair to say he has certainly done just that.
While David Moyes has overseen a superb start to the new season on all fronts, Steidten is working in the background to identify West Ham targets for January and beyond.
That’s if recent reports are to be believed.
Last week Portuguese outlet A Bola claimed West Ham had a scout in attendance for FC Porto’s win over Gil Vicente.

Hammers eye Portuguese duo?
As reported on Hammers News, it was suggested that it was likely to have been in order to watch 22-year-old Portuguese winger Goncalo Borges, who was linked with West Ham in the summer – a reported by the likes of Fabrizio Romano.
It is claimed West Ham are one of several European clubs weighing up a move for Borges in the winter window.
With the Hammers losing the likes of Mohammed Kudus, Maxwel Cornet and Said Benrahma for around five to six weeks all told between January and February, those links make perfect sense.

Other than a new striker, the key positions West Ham need to focus on in coming transfer windows is at full-back.
Vladimir Coufal and Emerson Palmieri have both been excellent. But West Ham are facing another bumper 50-game season and the drop off in quality and ability to their stand-ins is far too steep.
The Hammers need a pacy, modern right-back to compete with and eventually succeed Coufal.
And according to an exclusive from Football Transfers, Moyes and Steidten have their eyes on flying Wolves right-back Semedo.
The Portugal international and former Barcelona man is 29. But he would certainly bring some much needed pace to the West Ham side.
There will be plenty of games to go around providing West Ham progress to knockout European football for the third season running.

‘There has been no suggestion yet that he will sign fresh terms’
Football Transfers claim the Hammers have made an enquiry about Semedo after he entered the final two years of his contract.
“Coufal has enjoyed a good start to the season and West Ham could be tempted to activate the years’ extra option on his contract, but FootballTransfers understands that the Irons have told him they can’t guarantee regular first-team football – something which could be a sticking point,” the report states.
“David Moyes’ side are now considering a move for Semedo in the upcoming January transfer window…
“His contract is up in June 2025 and there has been no suggestion yet that he will sign fresh terms, or even that Wolves are weighing up offering him a deal.”
