24-year-old is 'best hope' West Ham have of signing a striker this summer

Mohamed Bayo is allegedly West Ham United’s ‘best hope’ of signing a top-class striker in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to transfer expert Dean Jones who told Give Me Sport that Bayo is a target for the Hammers this summer.

Bringing a striker to the London Stadium before the start of next season will be the number one priority for West Ham manager David Moyes.

Clermont hitman Mohamed Bayo is firmly on the Hammers radar according to Foot Mercato.

And Foot Mercato claim that the 24-year-old could be available for as little as £9 million this summer. That seems like very good value indeed to us.

It seems as though Bayo could be the Hammers’ best chance of signing a top-class striker this summer…

Bayo is best chance West Ham have of signing a striker this summer

The Guinea international recently spoke of his desire for a new challenge, as quoted via Footballogue:

“I had a season in National, I scored. I did a season in Ligue 2, it went well. We have stayed in Ligue 1 this season. The logical next step is to move towards a new challenge. I don’t want to run for the money, I want a project where in the game.”

And it seems as though West Ham could be his next destination.

Dean Jones told Give Me Sport that Bayo is a very realistic option for the Hammers:

“It might be more sensible because they will get better value. At the moment it’s sounding like Bayo is their best hope, it’s expected they’re going to be doing a lot of shopping in France this summer, they feel that is the market to be tapping into, so that’s the bracket they’re looking at.”

We believe that Bayo would be an excellent addition for West Ham this summer.

The 24-year-old was in fine form this season with 14 goals and five assists in 32 Ligue 1 games to his name (Transfermarkt). That comes after bagging 22 goals and eight assists in 38 Ligue 2 games during the season before.

At just 24, he has so much talent and potential. He is still very raw of course. He has all the skills needed but they need to be refined before he becomes an elite striker.

Importantly, Bayo possesses blistering pace and he is very strong indeed, so should be ideally suited to Premier League football.

And West Ham signing Clermont striker Mohamed Bayo for just £9 million this summer would be very good business indeed in my opinion.
