Michail Antonio is reportedly open to leaving West Ham United in the January transfer window, with Wolves apparently chasing his signature.

That’s according to talkSPORT journalist Alex Crook who claims that the 32-year-old Hammers forward could be looking for a new challenge.

Antonio has been an absolute shadow of his former self this season, and seems to have regressed badly over the past year or so.

Gianluca Scamacca is clearly the number one striker at the London Stadium now. If I’m being honest, Antonio hasn’t responded very well to the competition.

And his days in East London could very well be numbered…

Michail Antonio open to leaving West Ham

Alex Crook has shared how Micky isn’t against the idea of a new challenge at this stage of his career:

I’m told the player himself possibly is open to a new challenge. I think his contract is due to expire at the end of the season, but he’s got a year option at the end of that. So he’s effectively into the last 18 months of his deal. And Wolverhampton Wanders would be keen if he was made available.

David Moyes will obviously need to bring in a replacement for Antonio before he even considers selling him.

I strongly believe that the West Ham boss should be moving the 32-year-old on though, whatever happens.

In February last year, Antonio put pen to paper on a new 3.5 year £100k-a-week deal at the London Stadium, according to the Sun.

Quite what we were doing handing out such a large and generous new contract to an injury prone, ageing attacker is anyone’s guess.

What matters now though, is rectifying that mistake.

And with Antonio allegedly open to leaving West Ham in January, moving him on shouldn’t be that hard.
