Ex-Premier League star Mark Schwarzer has tipped Stoke City defender Harry Souttar to join West Ham United.

Hammers boss David Moyes is believed to be in the hunt for a new central defender in the January transfer window.

And Souttar, 24, is someone who we have been linked with on numerous occasions before.

Most recently, TEAMtalk claimed that West Ham are ready to battle Wolves for the 13-capped Australia international’s signature in January.

Moyes may well need to bring a new centre-back to the London Stadium this month, with Craig Dawson reportedly on Wolves’ radar (The Telegraph).

And big Harry seems to be ideally ‘Soutted’ the current West Ham team…

Harry Souttar could be West Ham bound

Souttar’s fellow countryman Mark Schwarzer believes that the 24-year-old centre-back would be a great fit at West Ham.

He is certainly the type of defender who David Moyes usually likes.

When speaking to Optus Sport, the former Middlesbrough, Fulham and Chelsea man suggested that he believes the Stoke man could join the Hammers this month:

He bounced back really well after the France game because there were question marks over the defending, they got caught out a little bit with high balls in the box – him and Kye Rowles. He’s definitely going to a Premier League club. There’s been some mention of West Ham, I could see him fitting in really, really well with David Moyes in that squad. That would be my guess at this moment.

I would take Souttar at the London Stadium in a heartbeat.

The Scottish Sun reckon Stoke will demand around £25 million for him. And whilst I can’t see West Ham paying that much for the towering Aussie, it would actually represent decent value in my opinion.

Standing at 6ft 6in tall, Souttar is an absolute giant and is obviously incredibly strong in the air.

If Dawson does leave the London Stadium this month, the Stoke man would be a terrific long-term replacement for him.

West Ham signing Harry Souttar this month would be good business in my view.
