Callum Wilson vowed to right a few wrongs to West Ham United fans when he first signed for the club and he’s certainly making good on that thus far.
Following the news that Wilson is now set to stay at West Ham United until 2027 after agreeing a new contract with the club, Hammers News thought it would be wise to look back on the striker’s opening message to supporters.
What is your IMMEDIATE reaction to the big news? 👀
Wilson, of course, has a fine record playing against West Ham. In 16 games against the Irons, he bagged 12 goals.
That fact clearly wasn’t lost on him during his opening message to supporters on West Ham’s official website in August 2025.
Wilson said: “East London is now going to be home which I’m happy about, and yeah there were obviously opportunities to go elsewhere, but I feel there’s a wrong that I need to make right with the West Ham fans especially, and I’m looking forward to getting in front of them at the London Stadium.”
Wilson promised to make things right after scoring so many goals against West Ham
Clearly, there is still a chance that West Ham will be relegated from the Premier League this season.
Without Wilson’s five goals in ten starts this season, however, the Irons would be much closer to the drop than they already are.
How would you DESCRIBE Michail Antonio’s West Ham career? ⚒️
Indeed, take Wilson’s goals away this season and the Irons would be four points worse off and relegation would look like a near-certainty at this stage of the season.
Wilson inflicted a lot of damage on West Ham earlier in his career but none of that will matter if his goals while actually clad in claret and blue keep the club in the Premier League.

Wilson’s redemption at West Ham United
West Ham fans are happy that Wilson is staying and that flies in the face of what many said when he first signed, given he hadn’t scored a Premier League goal for Newcastle during the 2024/25 season in 18 games.
Indeed, the striker had largely been written off at this level, but he has certainly responded to his critics in style.
Wilson’s whole career has been a fight and one that he’s consistently won.
Rising up from non-league to playing for England at a World Cup and in the Champions League is surely the hardest footballing journey possible and Wilson did it.
Coming back from two serious knee injuries must be even harder and Wilson managed that too.
Wilson has been redeemed at elite level and keeping him at the club can only be a positive thing.
