Hammers News asked our subscribers and followers across our TalkingPoints and Facebook pages what they thought about the Wilson news.
One subscriber wrote: “He deserves all he gets. Ok, we all know he’s not quick on his feet, but he’s a proven goal scorer and for the amount of minutes he’s been given, he’s returned 5 goals. That’s a-ok in my book.”
Over on Facebook, the response was equally as positive.

“Great. He’s doing a job for us, and will always have a goal in him if it drops in the box,” said one fan.
Another added: “Shows commitment from him when there is a relegation risk and that he is up for a fight on the Championship, which hopefully we won’t need.
“If managed right can be a useful addition to the squad,” wrote another.
One comment read: “No brainer really. Works if we stay up as an impact sub, or more than likely a starter if we go down. Good player to have around the place either way.”
“Too right,” said one supporter.

Callum Wilson’s West Ham United career in numbers so far
In the Premier League this season, Wilson has scored five goals from an xG of 6.55.
The veteran has had 13 shots inside the opposition’s box, winning 41 of his ground duels in the process.
Looking at the cold, hard data, the forward has enjoyed a good season.
While Wilson has struggled for West Ham at times, he’s certainly shown enough to suggest that he can continue to score goals at an acceptable level.
Clearly, he’s not perfect at this stage of his career, but he does not need to be.
