The Hammers are currently sitting in sixth spot in the table ahead of seventh placed Spurs purely because of a superior goal difference.

David Moyes will be desperate for his team to get the three points today, as will Antonio Conte.

West Ham beat Tottenham 1-0 at the London Stadium in the reverse fixture earlier on this season at the London Stadium.

We are all well aware of how tough it will be for the boys to replicate that result at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium today though, especially after having played 120 minutes on Thursday night.

Having said that, the confidence that the Hammers players would have gained from the win over Sevilla should mean that tiredness will not be an issue today. It’s a London derby as well, so there are no excuses for the players really.

West Ham starting lineup vs Tottenham confirmed

Hammers boss David Moyes has opted for a strong starting XI once again for this afternoon’s clash with bitter rivals Spurs.

Arthur Masuaku comes into the side in place of Pablo Fornals whilst Fabianski replaces Areola. Signed for £25m in the summer of 2019 (Telegraph), Fornals has proven to be a great addition for the Hammers.

The 26-year-old has looked very tired lately though and perhaps a rest is exactly what he needs.

The most important thing today will be for the West Ham defenders need to keep Tottenham’s dangerous attacking players quiet, notably Harry Kane.

It is vital that we don’t lose the game this afternoon.

A win would put us in a really strong position in the race for the top six whilst a defeat would put us behind the eight-ball.
