Nightmare start for West Ham in first seven games as Premier League fixture list is confirmed for new season

It looks a nightmare start for West Ham in the first seven games as the Premier League fixture list is confirmed for the new season.

West Ham will face champions Manchester City – boasting sensational new signing Erling Haaland – on the opening weekend (The West Ham Way, Sky Sports).

The Hammers then have Nottingham Forest away next – in what will be the newly-promoted side’s first home game after their long awaited return to the big time.

While facing a newly-promoted side should on paper be an easier task for West Ham, they tend to have their tails up early on in the season with the buzz of being in the Premier League.

Next is a home game against bogey side Brighton, who beat West Ham 3-1 to deny them a place in the Europa League on the final day last season.

The Hammers are then on the road at much-improved Aston Villa who have already made four quality signings this summer and are looking to challenge West Ham for a top six spot according to Steven Gerrard.

West Ham then face bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur – who have also added even more quality to their team under Antonio Conte – at home before a trip to Chelsea.

The last game before the World Cup is against Leicester at home.

Nightmare start for West Ham in first seven games as Premier League fixture list is confirmed for new season

The final home game of the 2022-23 season is against Leeds and David Moyes’s side end the season away at Leicester.

West Ham will – should they come through a two-legged play-off in August – have six Europa Conference League matches and a Carabao Cup third round match between now and the World Cup break too.

It promises to be a heavy and hectic workload for the Hammers.

And at the moment the squad is looking far from healthy.

Of course there is plenty of time in the window yet.

But with six or seven new players needed – and rumours other clubs are beating us to targets – Moyes and the owners must get their fingers out.

Because as the fixture list shows, it is a nightmare start on paper in those first seven games and West Ham must be ready to hit the ground running.

You can see the fixture lists for all 20 Premier League clubs here on Sky Sports.

West Ham’s fixture list can be viewed in full on the club’s official website.
