Finally some good news for West Ham after official Premier League announcement ahead of Burnley clash

West Ham United are set to take on Burnley at Turf Moor in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Premier League clash between West Ham and Burnley this weekend is a vital one for both teams, but for very different reasons.

Burnley are fighting for their lives down the bottom of the table having taken just four points from their opening 12 games, whilst the Hammers are looking for three points to force our way back into contention for the top seven.

It has been an awful international break so far for David Moyes, with Michail Antonio set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering an injury whilst playing for Jamaica.

Meanwhile, Jarrod Bowen picked up a knock as well, although the prognosis is a more positive one for the 26-year-old.

On top of all of that, Vladimir Coufal was sent home from the Czech Republic camp, after breaking team rules a couple of days ago.

There are also rumours that Mohammed Kudus has picked up an injury (Ghana Soccernet) – when it rains, it really does pour for West Ham!

However, there is now some good news for us all…finally!

Premier League announcement is good news for West Ham ahead of Burnley clash

The Premier League have confirmed via their official website that Craig Dawson will be on VAR duty at Turf Moor on Saturday.

Now, West Ham have a pretty good history with Pawson. The 44-year-old has given numerous decisions in our favour over the past couple of years.

He was the referee for our clash with Liverpool at the London Stadium back in 2021 – a game that we won 3-2.

And Pawson failed to even book Aaron Cresswell for what many thought was a red-card offence after his tackle on Jordan Henderson – a decision that sent Jurgen Klopp into meltdown (Daily Mail).

Then, in February of this year, he refused to award Chelsea a penalty after Tomas Soucek stopped the ball going into our net with his hand. It was a baffling decision at the time, but one that really worked in our favour. It ended up being a vital point for us on the road to Premier League safety.

Craig Pawson’s West Ham record

The Hammers have won seven, drawn eight and lost six of the games that Pawson has officiated for us throughout the years (Transfermarkt).

The fact that we’ve lost less than 30% of our games with the 44-year-old in charge is pretty good if you ask me.

Hopefully we manage to beat Burnley comfortably this weekend, without the help of the referee or VAR.

That said, if we need a hand, it’s good news that Craig Pawson is on VAR duty for the Burnley vs West Ham Premier League clash as far as I’m concerned.
