West Ham United fans will be laughing hysterically at the latest Jarrod Bowen to Tottenham Hotspur claim.

Jarrod Bowen joined West Ham from Hull City way back in January 2020 for around £22 million – an absolute steal in this day and age.

The 27-year-old has gone on to be an exceptional signing for the Hammers, with 60 goals and 39 assists in 202 games to his name.

He has been rewarded for his brilliant form for West Ham with his inclusion in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for EURO 2024.

Funnily enough, he’s exactly the kind of player Tottenham could do with isn’t he. The beauty of that is that he’d never join Spurs in a million years.

That’s not just because he wouldn’t want to move to our rivals but he definitely wouldn’t risk angering his father-in-law!

With that in mind, the latest claim made about Tottenham and Bowen was incredibly satisfying to read…

Bowen has been at the London Stadium for four-and-a-half years now, and he’s already firmly established himself as a club legend.

The former Hull City man scored the winning goal for the Hammers in the Europa Conference League final against Fiorentina in the summer of 2023, and he’ll go down in history because of that.

The 2023/24 ‘Hammer of the Year’ is the best and most consistent player we have at the London Stadium, and he is tied down to a contract with West Ham until 2030!

Things could have been ever so different for Bowen and West Ham though.

Football.London claim that Tottenham had the chance to sign Bowen back in the summer of 2019, but opted to bring Jack Clarke to the club instead, because he was available for half the price.

I’ll give you a minute or so to recover from laughing before we carry on…

We all know how the two players’ careers have fared over the past five years. Clarke is now playing in the Championship with Sunderland whilst Bowen is heading out to Germany with England for the Euros.

Thankfully Spurs turned down the chance to sign the right winger, and we got our hands on him just six months later.

Had Tottenham signed Jarrod Bowen instead of West Ham, I’m not sure we would have had the success we’ve had over the past few years. In fact, I’m almost sure we wouldn’t have.
