West Ham United are in a real mess right now, with relegation from the Premier League looking likely.
Nuno Espirito Santo has a serious amount of work on his hands if he is to drag his West Ham side away from the Premier League relegation zone.
West Ham have made some terrible signings over the past few years, and they are suffering the consequences of that now.
One of the most concerning things on display this season has been that certain West Ham players simply haven’t been putting in the required effort.
In the age of set-pieces, why aren’t West Ham making more of James Ward-Prowse?! 👀
As a result, the Hammers are now seven points adrift of safety, and things really are looking extremely bleak.
Unfortunately for West Ham fans, a really worrying claim has just been made that explains why their team is currently in the mess they’re in.
What one football agent has said about West Ham players
The current group of players at the London Stadium have quite clearly underperformed this season.
Or have they?
Are they just not very good to begin with?
When speaking on the Whistleblowers Podcast, football journalist Andy Dillon shared something one football agent told him about the current group of West Ham players.
“I’ve had some great some great conversations with agents over the past few weeks,“ Dillon said.

“One of them – when West Ham beat Burnley and Newcastle, I said to him, ‘I’m hoping this will kind of galvanise them, give them some confidence’.
“He went, ‘Let me tell you one thing. Nothing is going to make s––t players good’.”
Whoever that agent is, he makes a very good point!
West Ham’s atrocious transfer business the real issue
Whether West Ham do end up getting relegated or stay in the Premier League, which players would the fans genuinely want to keep?
Jarrod Bowen and Aaron Wan-Bissaka for sure. Freddie Potts, George Earthy, Ollie Scarles and a few other talented youngsters perhaps.
Maybe Mateus Fernandes, Soungoutou Magassa and Crysencio Summerville as well, but that would be it, wouldn’t it?
Awful player recruitment over the past few years has stunted West Ham’s growth. The Hammers failed to properly replace Declan Rice in 2023 and things have gone downhill ever since then.
The sad thing is that perhaps the club needs to take a step back now, in order to take two steps forward.
Would relegation down to the Championship actually be a good thing for West Ham in the long run? Let us know in the comments above.
