What Edson Alvarez did at full-time after West Ham’s 1-0 Emirates win left Arsenal fans absolutely fuming

West Ham United beat Arsenal 1-0 on Saturday, and Edson Alvarez rubbed salt into the home fans’ wounds at full-time.

Arsenal were nowhere near good enough but credit where credit’s due, West Ham were fantastic and thoroughly deserved the three points.

Edson Alvarez was back to his best, and the same can be said for many of his teammates.

Graham Potter absolutely raved about Alvarez just one week ago after he got the Hammers job for his ability to understand instructions quickly.

And things are now looking very much up for Alvarez and his teammates.

The Premier League table is all of a sudden looking a lot more positive for Potter and his players.

Potter proved that he’s a man of the people by travelling home from the Emirates on the Jubilee Line after the game.

The feel-good factor is now slowly starting to emanate from the London Stadium again, and that’s all thanks to the Potter.

The players obviously love the West Ham head coach.

James Ward-Prowse shared on Tuesday how all of the Hammers players raved about Potter when he asked them about him six weeks ago.

And the players’ celebrations after the win over Arsenal prove just how good the team spirit is right now.

West Ham’s Edson Alvarez sums up new-found team spirt

The Mexican has actually really struggled for form this season.

Believe it or not, it was claimed only last week that Potter could sell Alvarez in the summer.

I don’t believe that for a second though. The Hammers gaffer is clearly a very big fan of the former Ajax midfielder.

His ability to receive the ball in tight spaces in a cool and composed manner will be vital to Potter’s system going forward.

However, Alvarez definitely needs to address his disciplinary problems if he is to thrive under Potter at West Ham.

Two red cards and 23 yellows in 66 games for the Hammers is a really poor record (Transfermarkt).

If he manages to rein in his aggression and recklessness, he will be a really key player for Potter, I have no doubts about that.

What Edson Alvarez did after West Ham’s win over Arsenal

The Mexican had the Gunners fans on strings after the game, and the West Ham fans would have been in absolute hysterics.

The Athletic’s Roshane Thomas has shared what he spotted the mischievous Alvarez doing inside the Emirates after the full-time whistle:

The team spirit was palpable after full time: Potter embraced his backroom staff, Edson Alvarez mischievously celebrated in front of the Arsenal fans behind the dugout and Jean-Clair Todibo hopped on Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s back, which was already strained from contributing to West Ham’s attack.

That’s absolutely brilliant, and it proves that all of the players are very much aligned when it comes to the newly discovered team spirit at the club.

Whilst the Arsenal fans were left fuming with Alvarez’s celebrations, the Hammers fans were laughing all the way back to East London.

Graham Potter is the man who deserves credit for changing all of that.

Julen Lopetegui ruled with an iron fist, and you only need to look at players like Jean-Clair Todibo to see how much of a positive change Potter has made regarding team spit.

The only way is up for West Ham from here.

Getting three points against Leicester City on Thursday night would be a real sign that we’re on the right track, and it would be the first time the boys have picked up consecutive Premier League wins all season.
