West Ham United skipper Jarrod Bowen is clearly a huge fan of Ollie Scarles.

Jarrod Bowen and Ollie Scarles started for West Ham against Arsenal on Saturday, and they were both truly exceptional.

Bowen gave a brilliant motivational speech to his teammates at the Emirates before kick-off.

And that paid dividends for the Hammers, as Graham Potter‘s men proceeded to put in their best performance since his arrival at the London Stadium.

The Hammers head coach raved about Jarrod Bowen after the game, and suggested that he believes he will continue to get even better.

That’s a bold call, considering the fact that Bowen is already 28, but I don’t doubt that Potter will be proven right for one minute.

Scarles is another player who has so many levels to pass before he reaches his ceiling – his potential is truly frightening.

Sky’s the limit for Ollie Scarles after Jarrod Bowen praise

The 19-year-old has absolutely everything needed to make it at the very highest level of the game.

He has pace, power, athleticism, stamina and technical ability in abundance.

Against Arsenal, Scarles had 52 touches of the ball and made six tackles, seven interceptions, one clearance, one block and won one aerial duel (Who Scored).

Those numbers are seriously impressive, given his age and lack of experience.

We have our left-back or wing-back position nailed down now for the next decade and more.

Getting Scarles signed up to a new long-term contract should be a key priority for the Hammers owners over the course of the next few months.

Jarrod Bowen describes West Ham teen Ollie Scarles in one word

The Hammers skipper spoke to reporters after our win against the Gunners on Saturday.

And Bowen responded when asked about Scarles’ performance, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

“It was a brilliant performance from him today,” stated Bowen. “And the fans obviously appreciated him as well.

“He’s been brilliant since he’s come in, and he’s been getting consecutive minutes. Coming to the Emirates is never an easy place for anyone to start the game, but Ollie made it look like he’s played 300 or 400 games for the Club.

“So it’s full credit to him, full credit to the way he applies himself every single day and how he is in the group.

Brilliant is exactly the word I would use to describe the talented teenager.

The 19-year-old is exceptionally gifted, and what amazes me most about him is the fact that he looks like he’s been playing Premier League football for years already.

Ollie Scarles will undoubtedly become a star for West Ham in the future, and with someone like Jarrod Bowen around him, he has the ideal player to learn from.

I cannot wait to see the 19-year-old progress and develop over the next few years.
