Jarrod Bowen scored the winner for West Ham United against Arsenal on Saturday, and Graham Potter would have bene delighted with his captain.

West Ham signed Jarrod Bowen for just £20 million a little over five years ago. Our best bit of business in the Premier League era? I reckon so.

Whilst Graham Potter experienced a difficult start to life at the London Stadium, he was always safe in the knowledge that the club captain would return to action imminently.

How good was that performance on Saturday from the boys. The 1-0 win was capped off by academy graduates George Earthy and Kaelan Casey celebrating in the away end.

One of the biggest boosts for the Hammers was that Bowen looked back to his best against the Gunners.

After spending close to five weeks on the sidelines with a foot injury, Bowen made his comeback away at Chelsea at the start of this month, and his impact was immediate.

The 28-year-old is growing into his leadership role at West Ham, and he proved that with the pre-match motivational speech he gave to his teammates.

Potter is very lucky to have a player with Bowen’s ability amongst his ranks.

The Hammers head coach has a genuine star on his hands, and his performance away at Arsenal on Saturday summed up exactly what he’s all about.

Now Potter has made a scary claim about the former Hull City man.

If the former Chelsea and Brighton boss is to succeed at the London Stadium, he will need Bowen to be on his very best form during the course of the next few years.

The 28-year-old is in his prime now, and I fully expect him to go from strength to strength between now and the end of the season.

Potter spoke to reporters after the win over Arsenal and raved about his skipper.

And the Hammers boss made a scary prediction about Bowen, as quoted by WHUFC.com:

I’m delighted for him (Bowen), and I think there’s still more to come from him, certainly in terms of goals.

He’s been brilliant to work with. We had to be patient for him to be able to come back into the team when we came in, because of his injury, but he’s our captain and he leads in a really good way.

Wow, that’s quite the scary prediction from Potter, for our opponents anyway!

The thought of West Ham United star Jarrod Bowen getting even better really is a hugely exciting one.

He’s already a Hammers hero, and he’ll undoubtedly end his career as a club legend.

Bowen has been the one shining light for the Hammers this season, and I expect him to fire us up the Premier League table now, after Saturday’s brilliant win at The Emirates.
