West Ham United have been warned about signing one striker in particular in the January window.
David Moyes desperately needs to make a top-class striker signing for West Ham in the January transfer window.
One forward who is believed to be on the Hammers radar is RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner, with the Bundesliga outfit allegedly prepared to let him leave this winter.
The 27-year-old flopped in the Premier League during his time with Chelsea, but he seems to be tailor made for West Ham’s system.
I personally think that he’d be a great signing for the Hammers – he has everything we need, like blistering pace and a real eye for goal.
However, one journalist has given us a strong warning about potentially singing the striker in January…

West Ham warned against signing ‘completely talentless’ striker
German football journalist Marcel Reif has told Tag 24 why West Ham shouldn’t go anywhere near Werner, when describing his latest performance for RB Leipzig:
This path to Chelsea was a complete turn into a dead end. He comes in, takes that one shot where he’s really free. The ball doesn’t bounce, there’s nothing unfortunate. A soccer player who has speed, who has the ability to shoot, tries to shoot at goal quite unchallenged – and hits the thing 15 meters over the goal. Really completely talentless. I feel sorry for that in my heart. The club that takes him takes Timo Werner 1.0. But if he is now Timo Werner 2.0.”
Werner has scored just two goals in 14 games for Leipzig this season (Transfermarkt), but that’s a really harsh assessment from Reif if you ask me.
He’s having a very underwhelming season but I think the reason for that is his damaged confidence following his stint with Chelsea, and I reckon Moyes could get a tune out of him again.
There is definitely a very good player in there somewhere. He bagged 28 goals in 34 Bundesliga games for them in the 2019/20 season, and has 208 in 467 career games to his name (Transfermarkt).
West Ham signing the RB Leipzig striker in January would still be a very good move in my view, in spite of what Marcel Reif says.
