A reported target for West Ham United in the January window is incredibly injury prone, and perhaps we should avoid a move to sign him.
West Ham boss David Moyes absolutely must get some new signings through the door before the January transfer window slams shut.
One target in particular for the Hammers is believed to be Emile Smith-Rowe, according to the Daily Mail – someone who was actually linked with us in the summer.
Moyes is desperately short in the attacking department, with Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio currently out injured, and Mohammed Kudus away at AFCON with Ghana.
Our season is in danger of derailing unless Moyes strengthens his forward options before the transfer window slams shut.
Smith-Rowe is a real talent and would seemingly be a good option for us, but there is a huge red flag that West Ham need to consider before signing him…

West Ham target has horrendous injury record
Smith-Rowe has missed a massive 77 games through injury in just over five years since 2018 (Transfermarkt).
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta once described Smith Rowe as an ‘incredible talent’ (talkSPORT). So it’s clear to see just how highly he is rated at Arsenal.
The 23-year-old has exceptional technique, has pace and power to burn when running with the ball and has a real eye for goal.
However, he has barely played for them over the past 18 months, so a move away from the Emirates is definitely needed for him and the good of his career sooner rather than later.
He is obviously not robust at all physically, and that’s clearly why Mikel Arteta just doesn’t fancy him anymore.
I love Smith-Rowe as a player but he’s not reliable enough from a fitness perspective. I strongly feel like this is one target who West Ham should swerve.
